Let me tell you something, I am just your average friend doing extraordinary things with my life. Let me tell you how my life has changed in over a year!
I became an Author! Yes friend, an author!
When I was a little girl, I use to love to read all kinds of books. Reading allowed me to escape into someone else's reality. As I read more and more I realized that I loved acting. So when I graduated from High school, I auditioned for "The American Musical and Dramatic Academy" in New York City. I was accepted and off to the City I went. It was there I realized that the school didn't cater to the rising of black Actors and Actresses. I was reading scripts that I didn't identify with. It was at that point that I developed my love for writing.
I started with writing plays. I remember going to plays with my mom and I loved how play writers could bring real life stories to the stage. So guess what? I wanted to give it a try. My very first stage play "Freedom" was a huge hit. I knew at that point, I could do it. So while I am developing. my main stream play, I decided that I was going to finally write my book. It took me two years to write my book because let's be honest, it's easy to write stories about other peoples life but I had to write my own. Friends that was HARD! I was scared what people would think about me, mainly my family and those closest to me. But I realized that, my story will help someone struggling overcome and that was and will always be my main objective.
As I continue on this journey, I want to take you all with me. I want to share my hi's and lows with you so that you can know you can do ANYTHING. You hear me? ANYTHING.
To learn more about me, go to the SHOP tab and grab my book "Let Me Tell You Something- A Black Woman's Guide to overcoming".
Until my next post. Go be great friend. I love you!
